Urban government primary school fees are approximately R6000-R10000 per annum, whereas deep rural schools pay about R50-R200 which ultimately means richer schools provide a higher standard of education compared to the poorer, rural schools. Another important aspect is the uplifting of the surrounding rural communities. This can be achieved by community vegetable gardening projects, basic adult education and training and job creation. Where practical, shoe stitching would be undertaken as one means of increasing the wealth and esteem of the community. Outstanding learners or sports people should be identified during the after school activities and where practical, scholarships obtained to maximise their potential.
