Financial Aid for Primary School Learners Soul of Africa embarked on the Financial Aid for Primary School Learners Project October 2006. This was a response to a newspaper article which referred to a study regarding the educational needs of orphaned learners. The lack of school fees, required stationery and inadequate school uniforms being amongst the most crucial points. The services of a part-time social worker was employed to make an assessment through schools of children residing in high-needs areas such as informal settlements. In total, 59 learners from 6 different schools have met the criteria set for financial aid by the Soul of Africa Trust for the payment of school fees for the year, as well as R500 for school uniforms and R250 for stationery in respect of each learner. The total amount to paid by the Trust is aproximately R91,613. The schools who benefited from this project were:
